Female residents of the Akanksha Scheme hostel in Katara Hills, Bhopal, staged a protest demanding better food quality, clean drinking water and improved sanitation after reporting insects in their meals.
Female students residing at the Akanksha Scheme hostel in Katara Hills, Bhopal, gathered outside the mess on Monday to voice concerns over the quality of their meals. They alleged that insects were found in the food served, prompting fears about hygiene and health.
The protestors also highlighted the lack of safe drinking water and inadequate cleanliness in the hostel premises. They demanded immediate corrective action from the hostel administration and the local authorities.
According to the students, previous complaints about the mess and water supply had not been addressed satisfactorily. The administration has been asked to conduct a thorough inspection of the kitchen and water facilities and to ensure that standards meet the norms set for student hostels.
The demonstration remained peaceful, with the participants holding placards and chanting slogans for better living conditions. Local officials were informed of the grievances, and a meeting with hostel officials is scheduled to resolve the issues.
The incident underscores growing concerns among students in government-run hostels about basic amenities and food safety, prompting calls for stricter oversight.
