The state government has ordered water recharge units to be installed in every government higher secondary school to boost groundwater levels and raise environmental awareness among students.

The state government announced that rainwater harvesting will be mandatory in all government higher secondary schools across the state. Water recharge units are to be installed within the premises of each school as part of the directive.

The primary goal of the initiative is to increase the level of groundwater by capturing and reusing rainwater. By integrating these systems into school campuses, the government aims to address water scarcity concerns and improve the sustainability of local water resources.

In addition to the environmental benefits, the program is intended to foster a sense of ecological responsibility among students. Exposure to functional rainwater harvesting systems is expected to enhance environmental awareness and encourage sustainable practices in the younger generation.

The rollout will cover every government higher secondary school, ensuring uniform implementation across the state. Officials expect the combined effect of improved groundwater recharge and heightened student awareness to contribute positively to the region's long‑term water security.
