Sophie Okonedo’s New Film ‘Clarissa’ Takes ‘Mrs. Dalloway’ to Lagos – Trailer Released

Director Sophie Okonedo has announced her latest project, "Clarissa", a cinematic adaptation that reimagines Virginia Woolf’s "Mrs. Dalloway" in a contemporary Lagos setting. The trailer, released on the film’s official channel, shows Mrs. Dalloway navigating the bustling streets of Lagos, blending the novel’s introspective tone with vibrant city life. Okonedo, who has previously directed stage productions and appeared in international films, said the film explores themes of identity and belonging through the lens of a woman traveling across continents. While the full cast details remain largely undisclosed, the trailer hints at a diverse ensemble and a soundtrack that incorporates local African rhythms. "Clarissa" is slated for release later this year, with distribution plans announced by the production company.
