Strict pollution checks at the Sirhaul border on Sunday led to severe traffic congestion, trapping commuters for hours and disrupting travel to an INDIA bloc rally.
Commuters traveling between Gurgaon and Delhi faced significant delays on Sunday due to intensified traffic inspections at the Sirhaul border. The checks, implemented to enforce new pollution guidelines in Delhi, resulted in a gridlock that trapped many vehicles for several hours.
The disruption particularly affected supporters heading to an INDIA bloc rally, who encountered major setbacks while passing through the checkpoint. Frustration among motorists was high, with many reporting that even vehicles compliant with emission standards were subjected to prolonged delays.
Authorities clarified that these strict measures are necessary to ensure adherence to the latest air quality regulations. Despite the inconvenience caused to daily travelers and event attendees, officials maintained that environmental compliance remains a priority at the border entry points.
