India's opening batsman Shubman Gill highlighted the need for tall and quick fast bowlers as a priority in the selection for the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup.
Shubman Gill, who has cemented his place in India's top order, spoke about the attributes he believes the national team should prioritize when assembling its fast‑bowling unit for the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup. He emphasized that height and pace are critical factors that can give India an edge on varied overseas pitches.
Gill noted that taller bowlers can extract extra bounce, while speed can trouble batsmen early in the innings. He urged the selectors to focus on these qualities while scouting domestic talent and considering overseas options.
The comments come as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) begins its long‑term planning for the tournament, which will be hosted outside the subcontinent. Gill's input adds a player’s perspective to the ongoing discussions about the composition of a balanced squad capable of competing on different conditions.
