Rain showers across Delhi NCR have lowered temperatures while the India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert as a large protest march approaches.

A series of showers swept across Delhi and the surrounding National Capital Region today, bringing a noticeable drop in temperature compared to the previous days' heat. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) responded by issuing a red alert, the highest level of warning, signalling potentially severe weather conditions.

Meteorologists noted that the sudden cooling could affect outdoor activities, especially the large protest march scheduled for later today in the capital. Authorities have advised participants and the public to stay alert, avoid low‑lying areas prone to waterlogging, and follow safety directives issued by local officials.

The red alert also serves as a precautionary measure for transportation services, with the Delhi Metro and several bus routes expected to monitor the situation closely. Residents are being urged to keep abreast of updates through official channels as the rain continues.

While the protest is expected to proceed, organizers have indicated that the route may be adjusted to mitigate any disruption caused by the weather. The IMD will continue to monitor the system and may update the alert level if conditions worsen.
