Shahdol’s Khairaha police rented a house near the hideout of two fugitives wanted for robbery and NDPS offences, lived there for two days in civilian clothes and arrested them when they returned.
The Khairaha police unit in Shahdol district took an unconventional step to capture two fugitives wanted under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and for robbery. A house was rented close to the suspects' known location, allowing officers to blend in as ordinary neighbours.
For two consecutive days the police team stayed in the rented premises wearing plain clothes, conducting covert surveillance of any movement linked to the wanted men. The low‑key presence helped them monitor the suspects without alerting them.
When the two fugitives returned to the area, the officers moved in and arrested both without incident. The suspects are now in police custody and will face charges for robbery and violations of the NDPS Act.
Police officials said the operation demonstrated the department’s willingness to adopt creative tactics to ensure swift apprehension of dangerous offenders, reinforcing law‑and‑order in the region.
