PGI‑D data shows that Seoni, a small district in Madhya Pradesh, achieved higher learning‑outcome scores than the state’s major cities Bhopal and Indore, while its digital learning index remains low.
The Programme for Governmental Initiatives – Digital (PGI‑D) has released its latest assessment of government schools across Madhya Pradesh. The findings provide a district‑wise comparison of both academic performance and digital learning integration.
In this round of evaluation, Seoni district emerged at the top for learning outcomes, registering scores that surpassed those of the state’s largest urban centres, Bhopal and Indore. This marks a notable achievement for a relatively small district.
However, the same report highlights a contrasting picture in the digital domain. Seoni’s digital learning score – which gauges access to online resources, use of educational technology and classroom connectivity – is considerably lower than its academic results, indicating a gap between traditional teaching success and technology adoption.
Education officials noted that the disparity underscores the need for focused investment in digital infrastructure and teacher training in smaller districts, to ensure that gains in learning outcomes are complemented by robust digital capabilities.
