Following a lethal toxic‑alcohol incident in Dewas, the Sehore excise department registered nine cases and confiscated 690 kg of Mahua liquor, 30 L of raw spirit and cash worth ₹80,390.
The excise department in Sehore, Madhya Pradesh, stepped up enforcement actions after a fatal toxic‑alcohol episode in nearby Dewas. Officials launched a district‑wide raid targeting illegal liquor traders.
Nine separate cases were logged during the operation. Seizing a total of 690 kg of Mahua Lahan, 30 litres of unlicensed raw spirit and cash amounting to ₹80,390, the department highlighted the scale of the illicit network.
Department officials said the seizure underscores a renewed focus on curbing unregulated alcohol production, which has repeatedly endangered public health. They warned that any further violations will attract stringent legal action.
Authorities will continue monitoring the region, conducting surprise checks and collaborating with local police to dismantle remaining illegal distilleries.
