Scooter rider disrupts India A vs New Zealand A match, halting play

During the India A versus New Zealand A fixture, a lone rider on a scooter breached the boundary and entered the playing area, causing an immediate stoppage of the game. Umpires and match officials quickly signalled the interruption and called security personnel to the field. The rider was escorted off the ground while the players, visibly surprised, gathered at the crease. After the intruder was removed, the officials inspected the pitch for any damage before authorising the restart of play. The incident, captured on broadcast cameras, highlighted the need for tighter perimeter security at domestic cricket venues.

The interruption lasted only a few minutes, but it disrupted the rhythm of both sides, with bowlers and batsmen having to reset their focus. Team coaches used the pause to brief their squads, and the match resumed under the supervision of the match referee.

No injuries were reported, and the scooter rider was handed over to local authorities for questioning. The governing body of Indian cricket has said it will review security protocols to prevent similar breaches in future fixtures.
