Jyotiraditya Scindia and the Madhya Pradesh chief minister have obtained investment commitments worth Rs 5,500 crore to set up the country’s inaugural telecom manufacturing hub in Gwalior.
Jyotiraditya Scindia, a Member of Parliament, together with the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, announced that investors have pledged a total of Rs 5,500 crore for the establishment of India’s first dedicated telecom manufacturing zone in Gwalior.
The commitment, disclosed in a statement released by DD News, marks a significant step toward creating a specialised hub for the production of telecom equipment, a sector that the government aims to expand domestically.
The proposed zone is expected to attract both national and international manufacturers, fostering job creation and technology transfer in the region. Details on the timeline for land allocation, infrastructure development and the identity of participating firms were not disclosed at the time of the announcement.
State officials indicated that the investment will be channelled through a public‑private partnership model, aligning with broader initiatives to boost manufacturing under the Make in India programme.
The announcement underscores Gwalior’s strategic importance, given its central location and existing industrial base, positioning the city as a potential nucleus for the country’s telecom supply chain.
