Lokayukta Rewa’s anti‑corruption team conducted a surprise check at the Satna Municipal Corporation and apprehended supervisor Balakrishnan Adivasi. The officials recovered Rs 2,000 in cash from him during the raid.
According to the investigation, the supervisor had approached a sanitation worker and demanded Rs 3,000 to mark the employee’s attendance for the full 25‑day work period, despite the worker having reported only 16 days of presence.
The seized amount and the demand were recorded as evidence of bribery. Authorities have opened a formal case against Balakrishnan under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and the municipal corporation has been instructed to cooperate fully with the probe.
The incident highlights ongoing concerns about attendance fraud in local bodies, prompting calls for stricter monitoring and transparent payroll systems across Madhya Pradesh’s municipal institutions.
