District Magistrate Vaibhav Srivastava has instructed that all logistical, safety and hygiene arrangements for the Harihar Kshetra Sonpur Fair be finalized at least 48 hours before the event opens.
District Magistrate Vaibhav Srivastava of Saran district issued a strict directive that every aspect of the upcoming Harihar Kshetra Sonpur Mela must be ready at least two days before the fair’s opening ceremony. The order covers essential services such as thorough cleaning of the venue, provision of safe drinking water, and the installation of adequate sanitation facilities for the expected crowd.
Security arrangements have also been highlighted, with the DM emphasizing the deployment of police personnel, proper accommodation for law‑enforcement teams, and coordinated crowd‑control measures. Organisers are required to submit a detailed security plan for approval well ahead of the deadline.
In addition to safety, the DM stressed the importance of food safety and cultural programming. Vendors must adhere to hygiene standards, and cultural performances are to be scheduled only after confirming compliance with health and safety guidelines. The directive aims to ensure a smooth, safe, and enjoyable experience for visitors to the traditional fair.
Authorities will monitor progress daily and conduct spot inspections to verify that all stipulated measures are in place before the two‑day cut‑off. Non‑compliance could result in penalties or suspension of the event’s schedule.
