Entrepreneur Salim Diwan has taken ownership of the Rajasthan Rangers franchise as the Tennis Premier League gears up for its eighth season.
Salim Diwan, a noted Indian businessman, announced his acquisition of the Rajasthan Rangers franchise ahead of the Tennis Premier League (TPL) Season 8. The takeover was reported by Business Standard and marks a significant investment in one of India's emerging professional tennis circuits.
The Rajasthan Rangers, based in the state of Rajasthan, will compete in the upcoming season scheduled for later this year. While the financial details of the deal were not disclosed, Diwan's entry is expected to bring additional resources and strategic direction to the team.
Industry observers suggest that the new ownership could enhance the Rangers' competitiveness and attract higher-profile players, thereby raising the overall standard of the league. The TPL, now in its eighth edition, continues to expand its footprint across the country, aiming to promote tennis at the grassroots level.
Diwan, who has previously invested in sports and entertainment ventures, said the acquisition aligns with his vision of supporting Indian sports talent. The Rangers' management confirmed that preparations for the season are underway, with training camps and player selections to be finalized soon.
The move underscores growing corporate interest in Indian sports franchises, especially in leagues that combine entertainment with athletic development.
