Police in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, confiscated a stock of illegal firecrackers worth about ₹10 lakh after the property owner failed to produce a valid license.
On the eve of Diwali, officers from Sagar Police Department seized a cache of illegal firecrackers valued at approximately ₹10 lakh from a private property. The confiscated stock included a variety of crackers that were not registered under the state’s fireworks regulations.
The owner of the premises was unable to present a valid license for the sale and storage of fireworks, a requirement mandated by the Madhya Pradesh Fireworks Act.
Following the seizure, the police have initiated a formal investigation and are preparing charges against the proprietor for violating the state’s firecracker laws.
The move comes as authorities intensify efforts to curb illegal fireworks trade in the lead-up to the festival season, aiming to reduce fire-related accidents and ensure public safety.
