മലപ്പുറം: ജനാധിപത്യ വോട്ടവകാശം സംരക്ഷിക്കാൻ കേന്ദ്ര സർക്കാർ തയ്യാറാകണമെന്ന് മുസ്ലിം ലീഗ് സംസ്ഥാന സെക്രട്ടറി പി. ഉബൈദുള്ള എക്സ്.എം.എൽ.എ ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടു. കേരള കോൺഗ്രസ് മലപ്പുറം ജില്ലാ കമ്മിറ്റിയുടെ ആഭിമുഖ്യത്തിൽ കലക്ടറേറ്റിലേക്ക് നടത്തിയ മാർച്ചിന് ശേഷം നടന്ന ധർണാ സമരം ഉദ്ഘാടനം ചെയ്ത് സംസാരിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹം.
എസ്.ഐ.ആറിന്റെ പേരിൽ 13 കോടി വോട്ടർമാരെ ഒറ്റയടിക്ക് പട്ടികയിൽ നിന്ന് നീക്കം ചെയ്ത് തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് പ്രക്രിയയെ ആകെ അട്ടിമറിച്ചുവെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം ആരോപിച്ചു. ജില്ലാ പ്രസിഡന്റ് മാത്യു വർഗീസ് യോഗത്തിൽ അധ്യക്ഷത വഹിച്ചു.
കളക്ടറേറ്റ് ബംഗ്ലാവ് പരിസരത്തുനിന്ന് ആരംഭിച്ച മാർച്ചിനും ധർണാസമരത്തിനും ടി.ഡി. ജോയ്, സതീഷ് വർഗീസ്, കെ.വി. ജോർജ്, ബ്ലോക്ക് പഞ്ചായത്ത് മെമ്പർ അനിൽ പുലിപ്ര, തോമസ് ടി. ജോർജ്, എ.ജെ. ആന്റണി, സക്കീർ ഒതള്ളൂർ, റോയി ജോസഫ്, വി.ബി. സുരേഷ്, സിദ്ധാനന്ദൻ വള്ളിക്കുന്ന്, പി.എച്ച്. ഫൈസൽ, അസി ജോസ്, സജേഷ് മണ്ണഞ്ചേരി, നിഷാബ് കോട്ടക്കൽ, അബ്ദുൽ സലാം, ഷിന്റെ ബേബി, ഉണ്ണി ആണ്ടിച്ചേരി, അബ്ദുറഹിമാൻ മുള്ളുങ്കൽ എന്നിവർ നേതൃത്വം നൽകി.

Central Government Must Protect Democratic Voting Rights: P. Ubaidulla
Malappuram: Muslim League State Secretary and former MLA P. Ubaidulla has demanded that the central government take immediate steps to protect democratic voting rights. He was speaking after inaugurating a protest dharna organized by the Kerala Congress Malappuram District Committee following a march to the Collectorate.
He alleged that the election process was completely subverted by removing 13 crore voters from the electoral rolls at once under the pretext of SIR. District President Mathew Varghese presided over the function.
The march and protest dharna, which commenced from the Collectorate bungalow premises, were addressed by district leaders including T.D. Joy, Satheesh Varghese, K.V. George, Block Panchayat Member Anil Pulipra, Thomas T. George, A.J. Antony, Sakeer Othalloor, Roy Joseph, V.B. Suresh, Siddhanandan Vallikkunnu, P.H. Faisal, Acy Jose, Sajesh Mannancheri, Nishab Kottakkal, Abdul Salam, Shinte Baby, Unni Aandicheri, and Abdurahiman Mullunkal.
