Rural Development Department Launches Plan to Restore 500+ Historical Lakes in State
The department has initiated a silt removal drive for over 500 historic lakes to raise groundwater levels and alleviate summer water scarcity.
The Rural Development Department has announced a new initiative aimed at restoring the state’s historic lakes.
The plan involves removing silt from more than 500 lakes across the state, a move that is expected to significantly increase groundwater recharge.
By cleaning the lakes, the department hopes to mitigate the severe water shortages that occur during the hot summer months.
The silt removal operation will be carried out in phases, with priority given to lakes that are most affected by sedimentation.
Officials anticipate that the project will not only improve water availability but also revive local ecosystems and support agriculture in rural areas.
