Rs 47.54 crore sewage project inaugurated in Laldu, Punjab by MLA Kuljeet Singh Randhawa

A Rs 47.54 crore sewage infrastructure under Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0 was launched on Monday in Laldu, Punjab, with MLA Kuljeet Singh Randhawa presiding over the ceremony.
The Laldu town in Punjab witnessed the formal launch of a new sewage treatment facility on Monday. The ceremony was attended by the local Member of Legislative Assembly, Kuljeet Singh Randhawa, who officially inaugurated the project under the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) 2.0.
The scheme, earmarked at Rs 47.54 crore, aims to lay a comprehensive underground drainage network and set up treatment plants to manage solid and liquid waste generated by the growing population of the area. Funding for the project comes from both state and central government allocations under the national sanitation drive.
State officials expect the infrastructure to significantly improve public health and environmental conditions by reducing open defecation and untreated waste discharge into nearby water bodies. Completion of the network is slated for the next two years, after which the system will be handed over to the local municipal authority for operation.
During the inauguration, MLA Randhawa emphasized the importance of clean sanitation for the community’s well‑being and urged residents to cooperate with the upcoming waste‑segregation guidelines. The project forms part of Punjab’s broader effort to meet the targets set by SBM 2.0 across rural and semi‑urban centers.
