The Bihar government has approved a Rs 364 crore project to construct a 7.40‑kilometre four‑lane road in Rajgir, with land acquisition of 43.40 acres underway.

The state administration of Bihar has cleared a Rs 364 crore scheme to build a 7.40‑kilometre four‑lane road in the historic town of Rajgir. The project, slated to begin after land acquisition, aims to improve regional connectivity and support local development.
The new alignment will link the Rajgir Sports Complex and the Kund area directly to National Highway 82, providing a smoother traffic flow for commuters and tourists. An overbridge is planned at Nekpur to ease crossing of existing railway lines and reduce congestion.
To facilitate the construction, authorities have started acquiring 43.40 acres of land along the proposed corridor. Officials say the road will boost trade, tourism and accessibility to nearby heritage sites once completed.
The detailed project report outlines a phased execution, with the first phase focusing on earthwork and bridge construction. Completion is expected within the next three years, subject to timely land clearance and funding disbursement.
