The government has announced that former Agniveers will not have to appear for written or physical examinations when applying for Group C uniformed positions.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a notification stating that retired Agniveers will be exempted from both written and physical tests when they apply for Group C uniformed posts such as police constables, fire‑service personnel and other similar roles.
Agniveers are soldiers who completed the short‑term Agnipath scheme and were released after a four‑year service period. Many of them are now seeking stable government jobs, and the exemption aims to streamline their entry into uniformed services.
Officials said the move is intended to recognize the training and discipline acquired during their military tenure and to facilitate quicker recruitment for vacant Group C positions across the country.
The exemption will be effective from the next recruitment cycle, and eligible candidates will need to submit the standard application form along with proof of their Agniveer service.
