On Thursday, officials in Sawai Madhopur district conducted the reservation lottery for 215 wards spread across six municipal bodies, finalising the allocation of seats for the upcoming elections. The draw distributed 50 seats to Scheduled Castes, 14 to Scheduled Tribes, and 27 to Other Backward Classes, leaving 124 seats open for general candidates.
The lottery, held at the district headquarters, followed the guidelines issued by the Rajasthan State Election Commission. Candidates and political parties will now use these allocations to plan their campaigns and select candidates for the reserved and general seats.
Election officials confirmed that the process was transparent and adhered to all legal provisions. The next phase will involve the nomination of candidates and the announcement of election dates by the Election Commission.
