During a live RBI monetary policy session, the central bank revised its consumer price index projections upward, citing recent hikes in food and fuel costs.
During a live session held on a recent date, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced an upward revision of its consumer price index (CPI) forecasts.
The central bank cited recent increases in food and fuel prices as the main drivers behind the higher inflation outlook.
Accordingly, the CPI projection for fiscal year 2027 was raised from 5.0% to 5.2%. The second‑quarter estimate moved from 4.7% to 4.9%, while the third‑quarter forecast was also set at 4.9%.
The revisions suggest that the RBI may keep its policy rates on a tighter stance to curb the rising inflationary pressures.
