RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das told Fortune India that India’s recent economic expansion is a result of strong governance, macro‑economic stability and rising productive capacity.

In an interview with Fortune India, RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das emphasized that the country’s recent growth trajectory is not a matter of chance. He highlighted three pillars – effective governance, macro‑economic stability and the expansion of productive capacity – as the core drivers behind India’s economic resilience.

Das noted that policy continuity and transparent regulatory frameworks have created a conducive environment for investment and business confidence. Macro‑stability, he added, has been maintained through prudent fiscal management and a stable monetary stance, which together have mitigated external shocks.

The governor also pointed to the steady increase in manufacturing output, infrastructure development and skill‑enhancement initiatives as evidence of growing productive capacity. According to Das, these factors collectively ensure that India can sustain its growth momentum in the coming years.

His remarks come at a time when global investors are closely watching India’s economic fundamentals. By attributing growth to structural strengths rather than temporary factors, Das underscored the country’s long‑term resilience.

The interview reinforces the RBI’s outlook that a balanced approach to governance, macro policy and capacity building will continue to underpin India’s economic performance.
