Rare Red-collared Dove among 15 species recorded at Ziro Bird Walk in Arunachal Pradesh

The annual Ziro Bird Walk, held in the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas, attracted birdwatchers who together recorded fifteen distinct bird species. Among the sightings, the rare Red‑collared Dove was observed for the first time in recent years, marking a notable addition to the region's avian list. Organisers highlighted the dove's scarcity in the Northeast, noting its importance for local biodiversity monitoring. The event underscores Ziro's growing reputation as a hotspot for eco‑tourism and wildlife enthusiasts. Authorities hope the increased attention will aid conservation efforts for vulnerable species in Arunachal Pradesh.
