Rajnath Singh pushes armed forces modernisation, tighter border security at Jaisalmer meet

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh addressed senior military officials and security experts at a defence gathering in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. He underscored that modernising the armed forces is essential to meet evolving security challenges and to maintain operational readiness.

Singh pointed to the need for newer equipment, advanced training and integration of cutting‑edge technology across the army, navy and air force. He said that a modern force would better deter aggression and protect national interests.

The minister also warned that the nation’s borders face increasing pressure and called for reinforced surveillance, rapid response capabilities and infrastructure upgrades along frontier areas. He urged coordinated efforts between the armed forces and border agencies to ensure a robust security posture.

The Jaisalmer meeting, held under the banner of enhancing defence preparedness, concluded with a consensus to accelerate procurement plans and to review existing border‑security protocols.
