The much‑anticipated sequel 'Jailer 2' starring Rajinikanth opened in theatres throughout Tamil Nadu, coinciding with the state's festive season.
Tamil Nadu saw a surge of excitement as Rajinikanth's latest film, "Jailer 2," hit screens on Friday. The sequel, featuring the superstar in a new role, arrived during the peak of the regional festive calendar, drawing large crowds to multiplexes and single‑screen theatres alike.
The timing of the release appears strategic, with distributors banking on holiday footfall to boost opening‑day collections. Early reports indicate that theatres in major cities such as Chennai, Coimbatore and Madurai are reporting full houses, especially during evening shows.
Industry analysts note that Rajinikanth's films traditionally perform strongly during festivals, and "Jailer 2" is expected to follow that pattern. While official box‑office numbers are pending, the initial response suggests a robust start for the film's commercial run.
Fans have taken to social media, sharing photos of long queues and celebratory banners outside cinema halls. The buzz underscores the actor's enduring appeal and the cultural significance of cinema during Tamil Nadu's festive period.
The film's distribution network has confirmed that it will continue to roll out to smaller towns over the coming week, ensuring that the festive fervour extends beyond metropolitan areas.
