The sequel 'Jailer 2' has amassed Rs 776 crore in worldwide box‑office earnings within 16 days, surpassing the original by Rs 243 crore, according to The Times of India.
The Tamil‑language action drama 'Jailer 2', starring veteran superstar Rajinikanth, recorded a cumulative box‑office collection of Rs 776 crore after 16 days of release. The figure, compiled from domestic and overseas markets, places the sequel well ahead of its predecessor, which had earned roughly Rs 533 crore during its run.
Industry analysts attribute the robust performance to Rajinikanth's enduring fan base, aggressive marketing, and a wide release across more than 4,000 screens in India. The film's strong opening weekend and sustained footfall in tier‑1 and tier‑2 cities have helped maintain momentum beyond the typical first‑week peak.
The Times of India confirmed the numbers, noting that the Rs 243 crore margin over the first part marks one of the largest sequel‑to‑original gaps in recent Indian cinema. Trade bodies are now watching whether the film can cross the Rs 1,000 crore threshold, a milestone achieved by only a handful of Indian movies.
