The Rajasthan Election Commission’s revised voter roll lists about 5.15 crore names, while the list used for recent local body elections contained roughly 5.45 crore, revealing a gap of around 30 lakh voters.

The State Election Commission’s post‑SIR audit of Rajasthan’s electoral roll shows approximately 5.15 crore registered voters. In contrast, the voter list employed for the recent local‑body (panchayat) elections recorded about 5.45 crore names, indicating a discrepancy of roughly 30 lakh voters.

Election officials said the difference emerged because the list used in the local polls was compiled before the latest verification exercise. The older list, which authorities relied on for the elections, had not incorporated the deletions and corrections made during the recent cleanup.

The gap has raised concerns about the accuracy of voter data and the potential for duplicate or ineligible entries to influence election outcomes. The Rajasthan Election Commission has pledged to reconcile the two registers and conduct a fresh verification before the next round of elections.

Stakeholders, including political parties and civil‑society groups, are monitoring the situation closely, urging swift corrective action to ensure that the electoral roll reflects the true eligible electorate.
