Rajasthan State Gas has launched a piped natural gas (PNG) supply scheme in Kota, aiming to create zones where LPG cylinders are no longer needed.

Rajasthan State Gas (RSG) announced the commencement of its piped natural gas (PNG) distribution in the city of Kota, Rajasthan. The rollout marks the first phase of a broader strategy to replace liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders with a continuous gas pipeline network. RSG officials said the initiative will focus on residential complexes, schools and small commercial units, offering a cleaner and more convenient fuel alternative.

The company highlighted that the PNG project aligns with state government goals of reducing indoor air pollution and curbing the logistical challenges of LPG cylinder distribution. By creating designated "LPG‑free" zones, RSG aims to lower household energy costs and improve safety, as pipelines eliminate the need for cylinder handling.

While the pilot phase covers selected neighborhoods in Kota, RSG plans to expand the network to other parts of the state pending regulatory clearances and infrastructure development. Stakeholders are monitoring the project as a potential model for wider adoption across Rajasthan.

The launch was attended by senior RSG executives and local officials, who underscored the environmental and economic benefits of shifting to piped natural gas. No specific timelines for full city‑wide coverage were disclosed.

RSG will continue to engage with consumers to facilitate the transition, offering subsidies and technical support for new connections as part of its commitment to create LPG‑free zones in Kota.
