The state recorded temperatures above 41°C while the monsoon arrived three days later than usual, leaving rainfall 22% below the seasonal average.

Rajasthan's weather bureau reported that temperatures across the state have risen above the 41°C mark, marking one of the highest readings this summer. The heatwave has been felt in major districts, prompting concerns among residents and authorities.

Meteorological data shows that the southwest monsoon entered Rajasthan three days later than the climatological norm. The delayed onset has curtailed the expected early-season showers that usually provide relief from the soaring heat.

As a result, cumulative rainfall for the current season is about 22% lower than the long‑term average. The shortfall is expected to affect water availability and agricultural planning in the predominantly agrarian state, although officials are monitoring the situation closely.

State officials have urged citizens to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activities during peak heat hours, and conserve water resources until the monsoon gains momentum.

The department will continue to issue updates as the monsoon progresses and temperature trends evolve.
