In the first 26 days of August, Rajasthan Roadways posted a Rs 16 crore revenue shortfall versus last year and has directed a verification drive on alleged counterfeit tickets until Sept 10.
Rajasthan Roadways, the state‑run bus operator, reported a revenue decline of Rs 16 crore for the first 26 days of August compared with the same period last year. The dip came despite a temporary uplift in earnings during the recent Raksha Bandhan holiday, when passenger traffic typically rises.
Following the financial shortfall, the corporation received multiple complaints alleging the sale of counterfeit tickets by some agents. In response, the administration issued an order for a comprehensive verification of ticketing records and on‑ground checks, extending the investigation deadline to 10 September.
Officials said the probe aims to identify any irregularities in ticket issuance and to safeguard passenger interests. The findings will be presented to senior management for possible corrective action and to prevent future revenue losses.
The move reflects growing scrutiny of public transport finances in Rajasthan, as the state seeks to improve efficiency and restore public confidence in its services.
