The state police have finalized a roadmap covering 24 drone‑based applications and have trained 17 officers to use the technology for crime prevention and security.

Rajasthan police announced a comprehensive plan to integrate unmanned aerial vehicles into routine policing, aiming to enhance monitoring of criminal activity and public safety from the sky.

The roadmap outlines 24 distinct applications ranging from crowd management at large events, rapid assessment of traffic accidents, to real‑time surveillance of remote or difficult‑to‑access areas. Officials said the drones will be equipped with high‑resolution cameras and thermal imaging to operate both day and night.

To operationalize the scheme, 17 police personnel have undergone specialized training on drone piloting, maintenance and data analysis. The training was conducted in collaboration with a certified drone institute and includes modules on legal compliance and privacy safeguards.

The initiative aligns with the central government's push for smart policing and is expected to be rolled out in phases across districts, beginning with pilot projects in key urban centers.
