Rajasthan police seize over 1 tonne of mawa and 355 milk‑cake boxes in Bundi factory raid

Rajasthan police carried out a raid on a food processing unit operating from a farm in Namana, a town in Bundi district, as the festive season approached. The operation resulted in the seizure of 1,084 kilograms of mawa (khoya) and 355 sealed boxes of milk cake, which authorities suspect were being produced and sold as adulterated or counterfeit products. Officials from the district food safety department said the seizure is part of a broader crackdown on substandard sweets that could pose health risks to consumers during upcoming celebrations. The confiscated items will be sent for laboratory testing, and the owners of the unit are likely to face legal action under the Food Safety and Standards Act. The raid underscores the state's intensified efforts to enforce food quality standards as demand for sweets spikes during festivals.
