Rajasthan Panchayat Elections Skip Dhanteras Voting, Shifted by One Day

The Rajasthan State Election Commission announced a one‑day shift in the schedule of the first, second and third phases of the Panchayat elections. The change means that voting will not be held on Dhanteras, a major Hindu festival, in deference to religious sentiments and public mood. The commission said the adjustment will not affect the overall timeline of the three‑phase election process, which will resume the following day. Election officials have instructed polling stations across the state to follow the revised timetable and have assured voters that all necessary arrangements will be in place. The decision reflects the authority’s sensitivity to cultural observances while maintaining the integrity of the electoral process.
