The Rajasthan Food Safety Department seized and destroyed 625 kilograms of adulterated kalakand, milk and cream after finding dead flies and fungal growth in the products during a raid in Khairthal‑Tijara and Bahadurgarh.

The state Food Safety Department carried out a surprise inspection at food outlets in Khairthal‑Tijara and Bahadurgarh, uncovering serious contamination. Inspectors found dead flies and visible fungal growth in batches of kalakand, a popular milk‑based sweet, along with sour milk and tainted cream.

A total of 625 kilograms of the compromised products were seized. Under the department's standard protocol, the items were taken to a designated destruction facility where they were incinerated to prevent any public health risk.

The raid is part of an ongoing crackdown on food adulteration in Rajasthan, aimed at safeguarding consumers from unsafe consumables. No injuries or illnesses have been reported so far, and officials said they will continue random checks across the state.

The department has urged vendors to adhere strictly to hygiene standards and has warned that repeat violations will attract stringent penalties, including suspension of licences.
