The National Medical Commission’s revised seat matrix adds 479 postgraduate seats in Rajasthan’s medical colleges, raising the state’s total to 3,950, placing it eighth nationwide.
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved an increase of 479 postgraduate (PG) seats across medical colleges in Rajasthan, according to its latest seat matrix. This augmentation lifts the state's total PG seats from 3,471 to 3,950.
The revised matrix, released by the NMC, reflects a concerted effort to expand specialist training capacity in the state’s medical institutions. The additional seats are spread among various specialties, aiming to address the growing demand for qualified doctors.
With the new count, Rajasthan moves to the eighth position among Indian states in terms of PG medical seats, a notable climb in the national ranking. The boost is expected to enhance the state's ability to produce more specialists and improve healthcare delivery in the region.
State health officials have welcomed the decision, noting that the increased intake will help alleviate doctor shortages in both urban and rural areas over the coming years.
