A severe rainstorm in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, has affected more than 300,000 households, prompting emergency measures.
A heavy rainstorm swept through Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, leaving more than three lakh homes water‑logged and partially damaged. The downpour, described by local officials as one of the strongest in recent years, caused widespread flooding across residential colonies and low‑lying areas.
Residents reported standing water on streets, disrupted electricity supply and damage to personal belongings. Several neighborhoods saw road closures as water levels rose, hampering movement of commuters and emergency vehicles.
The district administration activated disaster response teams, setting up relief camps and deploying rescue personnel equipped with boats and high‑water vehicles. Authorities also issued advisories urging citizens to avoid non‑essential travel and to cooperate with rescue operations.
Preliminary assessments indicate that the affected households will require assistance for repairs and temporary shelter, prompting the state government to allocate emergency funds and coordinate with the National Disaster Management Authority for further support.
