Meteorological departments have issued alerts that rain and thunderstorms will affect the entire Jammu and Kashmir region starting today.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) released a weather bulletin on Monday indicating the onset of widespread rain and thunderstorm activity across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir from today.
The system, driven by a low-pressure area over the western Himalayas, is expected to bring intermittent heavy showers, gusty winds and lightning strikes, particularly in the valleys and mountainous zones.
Authorities have advised residents to avoid non-essential travel, secure loose objects, and stay updated with local forecasts as the conditions may lead to reduced visibility and localized flooding.
Emergency services in Srinagar and other district headquarters are on standby to respond to any incidents arising from the weather.
