The India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced that a weather disturbance will affect Rajasthan on September 28, bringing rain, thunder and gusty winds to 17 districts. The alert follows the recent retreat of the monsoon season, signalling a brief but intense spell of precipitation in the arid state.
Meteorologists have highlighted Sikar district as the most vulnerable area, issuing an orange alert that advises residents to take precautionary measures against possible damage from strong gusts and localized flooding. Other districts under the warning include Jaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner and Alwar.
Authorities have urged people to secure loose objects, avoid travel on exposed roads, and stay updated with real‑time forecasts. The IMD will continue to monitor the system and may upgrade or lift alerts based on evolving conditions.
While the monsoon has largely withdrawn from the region, such post‑monsoon disturbances are not uncommon and can provide much‑needed relief to water‑scarce areas, albeit with short‑term hazards.
