The Indian Meteorological Department has placed 25 districts of Madhya Pradesh under a rain alert today as active weather systems are expected to bring moderate to heavy showers.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a rain alert for 25 districts across Madhya Pradesh on Thursday, citing the presence of active weather systems that could bring significant rainfall. The alert covers districts ranging from the central plateau to the eastern and western fringes of the state.
IMD forecasts suggest that the rain could be moderate to heavy, with isolated thunderstorms possible in low‑lying areas. Authorities have advised residents to stay alert, avoid non‑essential travel, and secure outdoor items that could be damaged by strong winds.
In the capital city of Bhopal, local officials reported that several Ravana effigies prepared for the upcoming Dussehra celebrations were covered with tarpaulins as a precautionary measure against the impending showers. The city’s disaster management team is on standby to respond to any flood‑related emergencies.
The department will continue to monitor the situation and may upgrade the warning level if conditions worsen. Citizens are urged to follow updates from official channels and heed any further instructions from local authorities.
