Rahul Gandhi condemned a recent incident in the United States where the Indian national flag was allegedly desecrated, and issued a sharp rebuke to Khalistani groups supporting the act.
New Delhi – Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi expressed outrage after reports emerged of the Indian national flag being disrespected at a public event in the United States. In a statement released on social media, Gandhi described the act as "unacceptable" and warned that such provocations would have serious repercussions for those involved.
Gandhi specifically targeted Khalistani activists, accusing them of attempting to exploit the incident to further separatist agendas. He urged the Indian diaspora and American authorities to take firm action against any attempts to malign India's symbols.
The Congress leader called on the Indian government to engage with U.S. officials to ensure that the flag is protected under local laws and that perpetrators are identified. He reiterated that the Indian flag represents the nation's sovereignty and should be respected worldwide.
While the exact details of the alleged desecration remain under investigation, Gandhi's remarks have sparked a broader debate on the treatment of national symbols abroad and the role of diaspora groups in political controversies.
The incident adds to a series of diplomatic sensitivities between India and overseas communities, with officials on both sides monitoring the situation closely.
