Rahul Gandhi has called attention to the dire student housing crisis in India following a deadly collapse in Delhi that claimed lives.

Rahul Gandhi, the senior opposition leader, spoke at a press conference on Tuesday, condemning the recent building collapse in Delhi that resulted in multiple fatalities. He urged the government to address the widespread shortage of affordable housing for students across the country.

Gandhi said that the incident underscored the urgent need for stricter building regulations and better oversight of residential projects catering to students. He called on authorities to expedite the construction of safe, affordable hostels and to enforce safety standards.

The opposition leader also highlighted that many students rely on rented accommodation, often in unsafe structures, which puts their lives at risk. He promised to bring the issue to the Parliament and to seek a comprehensive review of student housing policies.

The collapse, which occurred in a residential complex in Delhi, has prompted calls from civil society groups for improved building codes and better enforcement of existing regulations.
