The Public Works Department and Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited have signed a memorandum of understanding worth Rs 72.82 crore to carry out development works under the Sunni Dam project.
The Public Works Department (PWD) and Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (SJVNL) formalised a partnership on Thursday by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) valued at Rs 72.82 crore. The agreement covers a range of development activities linked to the ongoing Sunni Dam project.
Under the MoU, SJVNL will execute the contracted works while PWD will provide oversight and coordination with state authorities. The collaboration is expected to streamline procurement, engineering and construction processes, thereby accelerating the dam’s progress.
The Sunni Dam, a key component of the region’s water‑resource strategy, aims to augment storage capacity and support irrigation, drinking water supply and flood control. Officials anticipate that the newly sanctioned funds will help meet project milestones within the next financial year.
Both agencies emphasized that the partnership reflects a broader government push to strengthen infrastructure through coordinated public‑private initiatives, ensuring efficient use of resources and timely delivery of essential services.
