Punjab police in Amritsar confiscated 10 kg of heroin and two AK‑47 assault rifles, dismantling an illegal arms‑narcotics network.
In a coordinated raid in Amritsar, Punjab Police seized a cache containing ten kilograms of heroin and two fully functional AK‑47 assault rifles. The operation targeted a suspected illegal arms‑narcotics syndicate that had been under surveillance for several weeks.
The recovered heroin, valued at several crores, was packed in multiple small packets, while the rifles were found alongside ammunition and other paraphernalia. Police officials described the haul as one of the largest drug‑weapon seizures in the state in recent years.
Senior police spokesperson said the bust will disrupt the supply chain of both narcotics and illicit firearms in the region. Investigators are now tracing the source of the contraband and have launched further inquiries to apprehend additional members of the network.
