The Punjab Police announced the induction of 1,746 new personnel, aiming to bolster its manpower across the state.
The Punjab Police announced that 1,746 individuals have been recruited as part of its latest intake. The recruitment drive, conducted under the state's police recruitment board, seeks to fill vacancies in various ranks, including constables, sub‑inspectors and other support roles.
The new batch will undergo a standard training regimen at the police training academy in Jalandhar, where they will receive instruction in law enforcement, weapons handling, community policing and physical fitness. Upon successful completion, they will be posted across districts to assist in routine patrols, traffic management and crime prevention.
Officials said the addition of nearly two thousand personnel is intended to address staffing shortfalls and improve response times in both urban and rural areas. The recruitment aligns with the state government's broader security agenda and its commitment to modernising the police force.
The selection process involved written examinations, physical tests and background verification, adhering to guidelines set by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The recruits are expected to serve a minimum tenure of five years.
