The Punjab administration has transferred more than Rs 1,262 crore to 3.6 million women beneficiaries under the Satkar Yojana, aiming to enhance financial inclusion.
Punjab's finance department announced that over Rs 1,262 crore has been credited to the accounts of 36 lakh women under the state‑run Satkar Yojana. The massive transfer is part of the government's effort to provide direct financial support to women across the state.
The scheme, launched to promote gender‑focused economic empowerment, seeks to improve women's access to formal banking channels and encourage savings. By channeling funds directly into beneficiaries' bank accounts, the government aims to reduce leakages and ensure that the intended recipients receive the full amount.
Officials said the disbursement was carried out through the state's integrated payment gateway, leveraging Aadhaar‑linked bank details already on record. The transfers are expected to bolster household incomes and support women‑led enterprises, contributing to broader socio‑economic development in Punjab.
