The Punjab unit of the Congress party has named Pargat Singh as its new captain under a pilot leadership scheme, amid ongoing internal disagreements.
The Indian National Congress in Punjab has introduced a pilot project aimed at restructuring its state leadership. As part of this initiative, veteran politician Pargat Singh has been appointed as the new captain of the Punjab Congress unit. The move is intended to bring fresh direction to the party's operations in the state.
Party insiders say the appointment reflects an effort to consolidate leadership while testing a new organizational model. However, the decision has also sparked dissent among some members who feel excluded from the process. The internal friction has been described as a "warring" atmosphere within the ranks.
Despite the leadership change, uncertainty remains about how the pilot project will impact the party's performance ahead of upcoming elections. Analysts note that the success of the experiment will depend on the ability of the new captain to manage factional disputes and rally support across the state.
