Chief Minister Manish Mann inaugurated an anti-drug drive at Chappar Chiri in Mohali and gave the green signal to a bike rally aimed at spreading awareness about substance abuse.
Punjab's Chief Minister Manish Mann arrived at Chappar Chiri, a locality on the outskirts of Mohali, to officially launch a state‑wide anti‑drug campaign. The event was attended by senior government officials, law‑enforcement representatives and volunteers from local NGOs working on drug‑prevention.
During the ceremony, Mann highlighted the rising concern over illicit drug use among youth and outlined a multi‑pronged strategy that includes stricter enforcement, community outreach, and rehabilitation programs. He emphasized that the government will coordinate with schools, colleges and parents to create a drug‑free environment.
Following the launch, the CM gave the ceremonial green flag to a bike rally comprising hundreds of riders who will travel across key districts of Punjab to spread the anti‑drug message. The rally is scheduled to cover major towns over the next week, with participants distributing pamphlets and engaging with local residents.
The initiative comes as part of Punjab's broader effort to curb substance abuse, which has been a persistent challenge for the state. Authorities have pledged increased surveillance and faster judicial processes for drug‑related offenses.
Organisers expect the rally to generate widespread public participation and reinforce the government's commitment to tackling the drug menace at the grassroots level.
