A statewide bandh has been announced in Punjab today, leading to the closure of schools throughout the region.
The Punjab government confirmed a statewide bandh for today, citing reasons not disclosed in the brief notice. As a direct consequence, all government and private schools in the state have been instructed to remain closed until the bandh is lifted. Parents and students were advised to stay home and avoid travel, as public transport services are also expected to be suspended.
Education officials have urged parents to ensure the safety of children and to keep them engaged at home. The district education officers are monitoring the situation and will issue further updates if the bandh is extended or lifted earlier than expected.
The bandh, which typically involves a shutdown of commercial activities and public services, is expected to affect daily routines across Punjab. Authorities have called for calm and have requested that essential services, such as hospitals and emergency responders, continue to operate uninterrupted.
