Authorities in Jalandhar reported that pro‑Khalistan slogans were scrawled on the wall of a house that locals had mistakenly believed to belong to singer Diljit Dosanjh.
Earlier this week, police in Jalandhar discovered pro‑Khalistan slogans painted on the exterior wall of a residential property that many residents had assumed to be the home of popular Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh.
Local social media users quickly circulated photographs of the graffiti, prompting speculation that the slogans were aimed at the celebrity. Officials clarified that the house does not belong to Dosanjh and that the identification was a mistake.
The slogans, which call for the creation of a separate Khalistan state, are considered politically sensitive. The incident is being treated as vandalism, and a case has been registered to identify those responsible.
Diljit Dosanjh’s representatives have not issued a statement regarding the incident, and the police have asked the public to refrain from spreading unverified information while the investigation proceeds.
The episode has reignited discussions about the presence of separatist symbols in public spaces and the potential for communal tension in the region.
